'Flower Fairies' event at Science Center
NORWELL - Families are invited to the South Shore Natural Science Center's Flower Fairies event, which will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The program is geared for children 2 and older. Activities include fairy crafts, flower dancing, and sweet treats at a flowery fairy party. Participants may come in costume.

June Rivers Month celebration on June 18
KINGSTON - The Jones River Watershed Association will celebrate June Rivers Month, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. next Friday, June 18, at the landing, 55 Landing Road.
The event also includes the group's Rising Tide Potluck.
Those attending should bring food for a barbecue.
Kayaking will be available. Participants should bring their own kayaks.
Town beaches open for season June 20
PEMBROKE - The town beaches will open for the summer June 20. Lifeguards will be on duty daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Swimming lessons at the town landing on Wampatuck Street and Little Sandy Pond on Woodbine Avenue begin July 5. Signup begins June 28 at both beaches.
Classes are held Monday though Friday for a half-hour or on Tuesday and Thursday for a full hour. The five-week sessions cost $75.
Those interested may also take Saturday-only classes, which are an hour long and cost $50 for five weeks.

Art Swap Saturday in Quincy Center
QUINCY - Anyone tired of looking at the same old paintings in their homes may find something new this weekend at the Quincy Art Association's third annual art swap.
At the event, from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 26 High School Ave., people can buy, sell or swap art supplies or art works, such as note cards, photos and paintings.
Proceeds help the Quincy Art Association, a group dedicated to fostering "an understanding and appreciation of the visual arts throughout the communities in and around" the city, according to its website.

Parents needed for school search board
BRAINTREE - The school department is seeking three parent volunteers to serve on a search committee for a new director of physical education and health.
The committee will be made up of parents, teachers, and administrators. It will conduct the first round of interviews with the candidates. Later, it will recommend a group of finalists to Superintendent Peter Kurzberg, who will make the final selection.
